What a day! 🥳

Fun-DUCT-Raiser 2024 was a big success. With a bevvy of creative boats, fabulous volunteers, and an enthusiastic crowd, fun was had by all!

Congratulations to Fatima who took home almost $350 the day of the race. Nice little wad of cash to go home with after a fun event.

Registration will open next spring

Watch this space and our social media accounts for the opening of registration next spring. After the great response this year, we are anticipating even more boats for 2025…so registration will begin by mid-May.

Maritime Paper, Eastern Canada’s Ecofriendly corrugated cardboard manufacturer, came on board as a sponsor for 2024.

Their design team came up with a pre-cut boat to be assembled and tape. Think IKEA and substitute tape for an allen key. We had six boaters giving their design a “go” this year, including Ren’s Racer, who took home one of the People’s Choice Awards. Thank you, Maritime Paper, for your support and all the extra cardboard!

So…what the DUCT is this race all about, anyway?

Construct a boat using only TWO items: cardboard and duct tape. (We’ll provide the duct tape ☺️)

Paddle against other boats to a buoy and back at Long Lake Park.

All proceeds from this event go towards the not-for-profit Long Lake Park Association (LLPPA). This dedicated group of volunteers keep the park clean and accessible for walkers, runners, strollers, bikers, and four-legged friends. Donate here!
